The issue with climate change, global warming, global cooling, or whatever you want to call it.... while I will agree that we do have an effect on the world around us, I believe the argument is in how much we affect our surroundings. Another problem is that the "science community" puts out these long term weather models that are, supposed, educated guesses, yet, they get it wrong. I like to believe these things are hard to predict due to many influences (ie solar activity, weather pasterns, volcanic activity, etc) that can make this a hard nut to crack, and while I can get behind making things better here and now, I do not think we need the doom and gloom that comes from the science community. Which then get's disproves itself and thus causes them to backtrack on their previous statements. It detracts from any rational discussion, and people are less inclined to agree with them and it inadvertently creates two groups, those who buy into it and those who don't and this ladies and gentlemen creates a volatile environment of their own making.

Until we are able to expand beyond earth and gain access to the nearly limitless resources in space, we are limited to what we have, and we have to figure out how to get to a point in which we can sustain ourselves in a self sufficient manner that is not detrimental to us and our surroundings, but, until we get there, we shouldn't be ignorant so as to hamstring ourselves and limit our growth or become regressive instead of progressing as society in technology and science.

The "doom and gloom" has one purpose: To cause us mere knuckle-dragging citizens obey our "betters"

Scientists like anyone else need to eat, and science has become a political pawn as of late and I suspect the findings of science will always have some spin induced by the source of their funding. And while peer review and such can be a powerful check it is by no means a full proof one and very often most people do not appreciate the level of pettiness that can be found in the scientific and academic communities, it is a romantic notion to think they are immune to those human traits but as an easily researchable example look up Ignaz Semmelweis.

Here is a guy who figured out that washing hands can reduce the risk of infection transfer, provided evidence and a readily testable theory, and he was ridiculed by the medical profession who out and out denied the experiments and evidence because of how it made them feel, and he ended up committed before the age of 50.

When you don't follow proven scientific techniques and methods, reality has a tendency to bite you in the gluteus maximus... By you I mean the climate change (or is it climate cooling this week?) people, not you Jack!

Read an article today where ice in the St Laurence sea way is to thick for seal hunting. The sea level is falling. A scientist said the oceans floor is expanding under the increased weight of more water so the level of the ocean is falling.
