I used to be able to read that because I can speak a bit of German.
Some of the language is so archaic that it is almost impossible to understand. One word I remember is Wergelt. Basically it means man's price. One had to pay that to prevent another from seeking revenge which at that time an obligation. They were literally blood feuds.
