There is a dispute between the u.s. and Canada on the War of 1812. What we do know is that the Americans torched a government building in Canada which led the Canadian British to torch the White House. I live in Canada and I get to see both sides of the story so maybe some of you would take notice of these early battles. The natives thought that if they sided with the British, they could get their own semi-autonomous area and not be pushed into reservations like what happened in both the US and Canada. This is been a sad situation for Native Americans and Canadians because they both are in two gangs, drugs, welfare and drive-by shootings just like what happens to African Americans in the inner city because of the broken families and of the high unemployment on the reservation. My wife is native so I've seen it for myself and see it happening today. The First Nations people are pretty much forgotten and they were hoping that with the British when, they could be given their land but they were really not given anything except empty promises.

Sorry to hear about the sad situation of Native Peoples in Canada. I support a couple of Indian schools in the midwest and the situation on those reservations is not good either
