He is allot braver than I would ever be. The first jump ever and from a trapeze under a plane and your chute is a metal canister. With a 509 hundred foot drop before it opens. I'll pass on that one.

Hermann Lattemann and his wife Käthe Paulus had been jumping for a while from balloons in the late 1800's. In 1894 however Herman died at the ripe age of just 42 in a test jump with his wife. His wife had to watch in horror as her chute did deploy. While tragic Hermann inovation of packing the chute in bags would be proving the way to go. However 18 years later jumping from a plane at a rather low attitude offers little room for error. Pretty amazing vanguard for the military and the sport.
