Well, I was never Airborne, and don't know who has to inspect the rigging, but sounds as if not just the Sergeant should be the only one to fry! There are multiple people that are supposed to be inspecting the load. What about the load master, did he not check his cargo before it was loaded onto the plane?

I agree it has to fall on more than just his shoulders- no doubt more than 1 person checked the cargo.

SGT I was on jump status for 20+ and a jump master I never rigged a hummer however, 3 in a single operation, thats is very unusual. They have troops who are very knowledgeable in putting the situations back together. Just from an old JM point of view, there are several points where this did/could have broke down. Obviously the person who rigged the vehicle, the jump master who inspected it, I am assuming a member of the air crew inspected it as well.
If it was an accident on the SM's part he/she would get very little time off for the rest of their life and they would train every second he/she was not sleeping. I would also push for the SM to pay some for a while but I think $200,000 is ridiculous.
If it was not an accident, deal with him/her in the most unfavorable ways, but don't let them out of the Army, that way he/she can be dealt with for a longer period.
