That is interesting and sad news SFC (Join to see) if soldiers are indeed at their highest risk of suicide within their first year of service. Much of the first year is spent in training,
Drill Sergeants and others throughout the TRADOC system tend to be well trained and hopefully they are focusing on identifying and helping at-risk soldiers.

With all due respect to JAMA~They need to do more research!
I plead the fifth on the DOD report.

This is a case where one can not always believe what the organization is pushing out. I can believe that perhaps some of this is true for our new recruits or youth of today. I am pleased to know that they are now looking at this subject matter. But it most incorrect for yesterday's suicides.

It has been my first hand experience that it is after several deployments, it is an overwhelming, all consuming internal Pain/conflict within that individual's psyche that simply becomes to much for any human being to bare. It is not weakness, I assure you. They only want that pain to go away. Please, do not underestimate the impact of suicides in the Military it is more prevalent then is being published.
