I'd like to know the exact figure the GOs think they need then let's audit the Pentagon for all the redundant and wasteful practices that have nothing to do with winning wars and eliminate them.

President Trump is NOT the problem, here is the problem, but don't expect CNN to place the blame where it lies. I took Obama eight years to degrade and transform our military to what is it today and they want Trump to fix it in 100 days.

Pentagon leaders have warned that budget constraints over the last several years have lowered the military's readiness levels, where units that aren't deploying overseas are unable to train, and planes and ships have to delay maintenance that keeps them operational.
The Navy, for instance, said earlier this year that two-thirds of its F/A-18 fighter jets are unable to fly due to repair delays or needing spare parts.

I suppose that depends on what the rebuilding consists of, there is no way our military can be brought up to strength in four years even with all the money that could be funded, borrowed or stolen. This will take close to a decade and budgets are determined on an annual basis. eliminate the fluff that don't have direct effect on our lethality as the good general stated, lose it. We have a new class of submarines that are being designed to accommodate females, even though we don't even know it there will be sufficient recruits that can "man" them. That will result in the males being crowded while the female quarters will be partially utilized. Just one example. How long does it take to get a new air frame designed manufactured, tested and in the field? A new class of ship? This will be a matter of priorities and I feel that Mattis is the most capable to decide that.
