Once again, an attempt to bash Trump for petty inconsequential crap.

China did fall to the Mongols and the Mongols did invade Korea and run off their royal family around 1200 and did own some of the turf there for a while. Technically Xi is correct although perhaps embellishing their China role.

There was this whole matter circa 1950 where the Chinese did invade across the Yalu River near the Chosin Reservoir and encounter Chesty Puller and the 1st Marine Division. There were an estimated 120,000 Chinese troops all over Korea trying to kill us. I guess you could say they owned the terrain they held then too.

It's all consequential. No, Trump isn't taking credit for the statement, but he's the one who put it into the public record, thus offending a key ally. You may as well argue that accepting a call from Taiwan's President congratulating him on his win was also not his fault. The problem is that Trump does not have the experience or intelligence to see these pitfalls before he's in the bottom of the pit. All these little "inconsequential" things add up over time.

Inconsequential? Well now China has a basis for taking over North and South Korea. Now all China has to say is "we will retake was is rightfully ours, and you'll never hear from North Korea again" and Trump and other Americans will just be fine with it.

Yes, inconsequential. China isn't trying to take over Korea and if that were the case, they'd already be running things in NK. If anything, they want to avoid a war, knowing the mass refugee migration from NK will only hurt them and their economy. Their goal is to keep NK in check and to use them as a proxy to keep the US busy in the region. What Trump said wasn't necessarily something said in confidence or meant to insult the Koreans. He repeated a historical perspective of another leader which was said to him. This whole highlighting of the issue is completely asinine and it's only purpose is to bash Trump in any manner possible, no matter how stupid the subject is.

The earliest known Korean state was Old Chosŏn, in what is now northwestern Korea and southern Northeast China; it was conquered by the Han Chinese in 108 BCE. Thereafter the Chinese set up military outposts in Korea that helped spread Chinese culture and civilization.

It kind of analogous to saying the United States were never part of the British Empire, maybe not, but the 13 colonies sure were. Yeah but the culture of the British empire had no impact on the culture of the United States... oh ummm, yeah... Never mind.

SSG (Join to see) - Once again it is all a matter of historical perspective. There are very few places on earth where you or I can stand that someone hasn't killed somebody over. If nobody ever killed anybody over it, you and I would probably look at each other and say "How do we get off this piece of $%^T?"

But this is all a distraction. I laughed when President Obama said there was 57 states. Does that mistake mean he's dumb. No! It does not. He was probably tired. (Been there myself) It means he made a simple mistake. I didn't use that mistake as a club to discredit him.

Being a good leader is NOT about knowing it all and being a walking encyclopedia. Being a good leader is about recognizing effective people, placing them in important positions, giving them clear guidance and then letting them go. I wish President Trump was more disciplined in his communications. I also wish I was rich. I'm 0 for 2 on wishes.

Picking at stuff that won't mean diddly 24 hours later is mean spirited, sad and destructive. By all means, if it is really significant SNAFU's howl like a wolf, but enough of the small stuff please. There is so much small stuff you can't get to the big stuff.

ThAt period was nothing like Colonizations and the Chinese very specially let the Koreans run their non-military affairs. That would be like saying that Germany and Japan were once part of the US because of the post war occupation.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - I read, I thought, I decided. I like my analogy better.

But your right, President Trump's analysis clearly rises to the standard of High Crimes and Misdemeanors. Impeach Him Now!

Maj John Bell - No impeachment for this but there is nothing wrong with mocking an incompetent clown.
