Thanks for letting us know that the Spanish Civil War ended on march 28, 1939 SGT John " Mac " McConnell. Ernest Hemingway participated in that conflict and derived some material for his books while he was there. Germans, Brits and Americans fought in that war and used what they learned to fight in WWII.

Nice post. Just a small story for you. It was during REFORGER 1990 when I visited a Gasthause across from where we were staying overnight for a meal. I met a former member of the Condor Legion. I didn't speak German, he didn't speak english so we spoke in spanish. Actually I didn't say much just questions for clarification. It was really fascinating speaking with a man that survived thru both the Spanish Civil War and WWII Flying in the Luftwaffe. I just wish i could remember his name...
