A Green Beret credited with fighting off Taliban attackers in Afghanistan spoke out Monday in his first interview since the Army denied his commanders' recommendation for a Medal of Honor, awarding him a Silver Star instead.
"I kind of have a lot of trust in the system, but if somebody says it's broken, maybe it is," Staff Sgt. Earl D. Plumlee told The Washington Post. "But I'm always leery of decisions like this getting reversed."

It's well known that my branch of the Service is much more rigid in the awarding of medals. I do believe that people who are in the decision making process should apply the same standard for awarding of the MOH that previous generations have been subjected to. And the decision should be made by warfighters, if investigation rivals that the member meets the standard then the standard has been met, Period. Look at how may MOH have been awarded in previous wars? and how many for Iraqi and Afghanistan? Just my thoughts. Semper Fi.

Sounds like he has an excellent attitude but I've seen more than a few upgraded at a later time after a revisit. We'll see.
