Jefe I am nor was I ever a sniper however over the years I have had many SF snipers somewhere in my unit(s). I don't have enough personal knowledge on the subject matter say bad or good idea. But... when you have the gun carriers and users assessing the system and putting it through all the test I will take their word 10 out of 10 times. If it will help them kill jackasses I say get as soon as possible and get our boys trained up on it.

Another tool in the tool box, LTC Jeff Shearer - The 6.5CM fills a gap that the 7.62x51 can't fill and hits a bunch softer than the .300Win Mag and .338 Lapua Magnum for "targets" that don't need the energy or range. Like you said, those cats know what works. If they picked the 6.5CM over the .408 CheyTac or other offerings they had a reason. Personally I love it. My goal is to get beyond the 800m I've been hitting and go to 1,200-1,400m or so, which that round CAN do. I'm the wild card in the mix! LOL

Switching to 6.5 mm from 7.62 mm would work for special operations snipers because of small personnel numbers. Regular forces switching might be more of a strain logistically. Good article overall...

No more strain logistically since snipers us specially loaded 7.62 x 51 NATO ammunition such as the M118LR. The disadvantage would be no backup ammunition source since the 7.62 X 51 chambered rifles can us the M240 ammo if needed. LTC Eugene Chu

CW5 Jack Cardwell - I just basically wasted my breath. I should've perused the thread before I typed a novel. You succinctly said what I just wrote a novel about. I like your reply.
