Not much is posted about our Coast Guard. I don't know why, but they are a very important and unique branch of military and aviation. This article is about their specially, new painted helicopters.
The Jayhawk helicopter, the first of all this year’s specially painted aircraft delivered by the Coast Guard to an operational unit, arrived from Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and will operate out of the Warrenton base for the next 4 years.

I knew a fellow who flew rescue C-130s out of Kodiak. He said it was a job for 'young pilots'. He told me of dropping emergency pumps and engines attached by a long cable onto distressed fishing boats. He would straddle the fishing boat, with the pump on one side and the engine on the other side of the boat so the fishing boat could haul them aboard.
