Don't see many anymore. Too many fast food restaurants for me.

I am with you. I love the old diners. The Tick Tock diner in NJ is a favorite of ours

I still go to one, the first time I went there was in 1969. I still sit at the counter where I always sit since 69, but the counter got wider, and the bar stool's seat cover is now green from red, and dinner got bigger.
Still can see the dish washer threw the small old service window, but now they have a new wilder service window.
The old navy retired owner since pasted away, who named the dinner after his wife "Linda", in the 50's.
The service is still the same, 24/7 and you can order anything on the menu anytime of the day or night.
Steak and eggs is still a favorite of mine, and if you want pancakes for dinner or steak for breakfast, it doesn't matter, you got it.
It still has a jukebox, but updated, no more section mechanism on the counter, 5 songs to play is now $2, far from 1969, 5 songs cost $.25.
Hamhocks and beans, is still the spacial only on Wednesdays, and fried rice covered with two Over Easy eggs still looks and tastes good.
As a young COP in 1977, we used to go in there at 4am, and bust the Heroin Junkie's, and kick the shit out of them. Lol
"Man, that was sure fun days at Linda's", due to the Junkies and Low Life's that hung around there.

Sounds like the kind of place I'd love.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - You would Sir, if there was something that you would like to see on the special menu, they would try it out to see how it sells. I once had them put on the menu, grilled liver and onions, that was placed on the Thursday special, and still every Sunday there's, turkey, stuffing and gravy.
The velvet cake is my youngest's favorite, and if you wanted it at 3am, you got it.

SGT (Join to see) You just gave me a wave of nostalgia. The diner in my home town that was not far from our high school had the best grilled liver and onions.
