Black students are more likely to graduate if they have a supportive, caring, DISCIPLINED environment. I'm not sure color makes a difference. Men in the classroom might.

The article states the most difference comes from grades 3,4,5. Curious that those grades are specifically chosen by the study.

Good point. I once read that situations during that timeframe had the longest lasting effect on a child's future development. Your thoughts?

I've been a substitute elementary teacher for Texas. Male representation in primary grades is a minority and there may be 1-2 black men in our district's elementary schools. In my opinion, the findings are plausible. Mentorship makes a big difference and can be statistically proven. I believe that the biggest determining factor in a child's education comes from parental encouragement/involvement.
