When at a base I was taking part in an a extra drill when I was the AFReserves... somebody got a wacky idea to send a new 2d Lt. To follow me around ... they thought they’d put a crimp in my work.. (couldn’t take certain short-cuts...

Got my list in my notebook and checking to make sure I’m doing it right every Few minutes.. when I got a step completed I checked it off and move on to next.. make sure area is cleaner than I found it.. I m explain’g these steps to the Lt and reinforcing what I’m saying, doing...
consistently retaking temps to make sure sauces don’t break(separate).. and I’m asking the Lt. These items.. So he will understand as a leader when s’body explains why they consistently do repetitious motions and it’s not a waste of time to do so. Just can’t put s’thing on and not check it’s progress.. s’one could reset the heat. ..,caus’g items to possibly incinerate.. when I got everything assigned done and explained to the Lt.. I took him back over and gave him back to the SSGT who sent him over.. Here’s your Lt. SSGT. W___, you can send him back to the TSGT who originally assigned him to you.. I explained my responsibility as an Airman cook to him and he’s up to speed.. I showed him the Cook work sheet, whose assigned to what... how in the end th the shiftleader is finally responsible..
I think he has all that in his notes..
I thanked the Lt for his undivided attention and for the questions he asked me . And whenever he’d like to learn more to come up to a Selfridge and folllow us around and we will show how real cooks work!
I didn’t think the SSGT cared for my dig and personally I could not care more.. what I didn’t know was ...
The Lt explained to the TSGT how he got handed off to an Airman Cook and he learned quite a bit from the A1C.. TSGT M____ had the SSGT and me and the 1st Cook in his office.. and he was not a happy camper.. a few minutes later he asked me to step out and wait in the outer office.. I could hear the walls reverberate .., The.n I got called back in.. The SSGT apologized for what should have been his job to do.. I commented
that I believe it made me better by explaing my duties to the Lt. So it helped him understand our job description . I knew I had to do it right explain’ g so by chance in his evaluation. He gave a good report of me after reading about what I described and that it matched close to what the book said.. Afterward when I returned to my original assigned unit that Lt. Turned over a nice endorsement to the TSGT. I don’t know what he may have said about the SSGT.. That’s between them....
