I for one think this should be every month. It is a tragedy and needs more attention. I appreciate the share my friend. i am currently looking for an opportunity to help once I change my status to retired. Have a great day MSG Chris Allen

Please God no, half this training is CYA training mandated because Congress gets pissed. We need to spend more time in actually training to do our jobs. Counseling services provided discreetly at sick call would do much more but then that would cost much more money

I have a personal interest here. I served as a volunteer crisis intervention counselor in Riverside County for two - three years. It should have been called a Suicide Prevention Hotline because most of our calls were people contemplating suicide.
We talked to people and gave them access to resources to help them. I spent even several hours on some calls that were more serious. Granted most calls weren't from veterans but I feel veterans should have someone immediately available to talk to them if they call in.

That was too fast for me to read. I met a young lady online and she was suicidal. She was lost within herself. I told her to look in the mirror and discuss who loves her and who she loves; and look for beauty on a daily basis. She got out of her funk after a few days. I have used this advice numerous times.
