We do not have a Democracy. We have a Constitutional Republic. For years the lie about a Democracy has been floated.
If people, or ideologies call for harm on American citizens, Escalation of Force is warrented. An investigation for example.
We have limits to free speech. We can not yell fire in a crowded room and most try to be polite and not call others mean names. But, shutting down so called hate speech web sites, because they do not agree with you is what the Nazis did.
In America, we do not have the right to not be offended. We do have the right of self defense. So, if someone, or group what to cut off my head, I have the right of self defense up to and including deadly force. If someone whats to talk about and worship a fence post, I do not have a right to stop them. In the New Age, hate speech is used to limit freedom of speech. First, they came for those easy to dislike. Low information voters will fall for it.
How long will it be before RP is shut down due to posts discussing a subject/subjects that is being used to destory American culture?

Technically we do not live in a direct democracy. We do live in a representative democracy and a consitutional republic.
Having said that, I get what you are saying and the fact that we can have a pedantic public debate about those terms is a good thing.

I to complain about people that tout “democracy.” Thank goodness we do not live in a democracy. Milton Friedman has given the example: Never is it OK for 51% of the people to agree to shoot the other 49%...
