Thanks TSgt Joe C. for reminding us that Irish novelist James Joyce's novel Ulysses was first published in the USA by Sylvia Beach, owner of the Paris-based bookstore Shakespeare and Co.
The novel was controversial even in the roaring 1920s because of the language and scenes were considered to be obscenity by the US Post office.
