I don't think there is a problem with Female Surface Warfare Officers senior types, I ran across a few and I am a Brown Water/Ground Warfare type. There are a lot of them out there believe it or not. In CEC (Seabee side ) we have had a couple CO's leading Battalions in Combat Support operations and have had Teams engaged with the enemy. My last deployment to Afghanistan (2012-2013) we had a Female Captain (CEC) that was in charge of what we call the Forward Deployed Regiment (she was the Commodore) she was the Engineer Task Force Commander in Charge of Army Engineers and Navy Engineers (Saebees) yes she had two Combat Engineer Battalions that did Route Clearance which is Direct Combat element.

We had a Female CO in our Battalion under that Commodore, and we had Three Purple Harts and 78 Combat Action Ribbons Two Bronze Stars with V and 3 NAVCOM V and 3 NAM's with V's and one of those V's and 8 of the CAR's were female. The CAR's were not for IDF as the Navy does not do that we fall under Marine REGS for that on ground. those Awards were just our Battalion, the regiments had Two Seabee Battalions Four Army Heavy Battalions and Two Combat Engineer Battalions (SPAPER) so I know they had plenty, and the Female Commodore was in charge of all that.

I served with CDR Slough when she was a lowly LT and the weapons officer on USS The Sullivans. She is an awesome SWO and someone that I would love to work for again
