Sgt Tom Cunnally There have been renditions of the Star Spangled Banner where a musician adds their personal flair to the anthem. When an artist does that, it is fine. An artist's sound is the reason that they are chosen to sing the national anthem. These guys were chosen because of their sound. Adding a personal flair would have been perfectly acceptable. Changing the words of one's national anthem to make a political statement is wrong. If one cannot do that, then one should simply decline the invitation.
