Sgt Wayne Wood Its okay, he didn't offend anyone. He is a liberal. Liberals are incapable of saying anything offensive.

What a silly thing for him to say; but then again, he might now have a chance at running for President, because there is precedence. #LockerRoomTalk #GuyTalk #StraightTalk

LTC (Join to see) - Sure, just figured all the jumping through hoops SOME conservatives did to rationalize the aforementioned situation I joked about; they'd be in full support of the guy in the article. I found it odd how everything has changed now. I mean, President Trump was at the innocent age of 59 years young at the time of his comments (2005), but this guy, Robert Ranco, was the wise old age of 48, so I can see that Ranco had even less of an excuse for such comments.

Obviously I don't condone either situation, regardless of who said it. I am just making light of the comparison of public reaction between the two, based on political bias.

SFC (Join to see) - SSG, I got it. Mr. Trump made a vulgar statement as a private citizen and someone tape recorded it for some reason and then played it on air years later. It was a smear job. But it is words. He has not molested an intern. Its also funny that all the women that the Left trotted out against Mr. Trump have vanished. Its politics and its reality. I am really amazed that you have such tender ears being at Bragg.

LTC (Join to see) - Let me bring this back into context so I can hopefully steer this away from the land of ad hominem, however subtle you may apply it.

I didn't have a problem with all of the previous recording, only the portion where he talked of his implied right as a Star to sexually assault another person. That might be considered a moral issue. In particular, I'm pointing out the silliness of how much SOME people and SOME conservatives (I'm not a liberal so attacking the Left means nothing to me), went out of their way to make silly arguments to rationalize that portion. It's as though it were impossible for them to acknowledge wrongness, but still be supportive of there preferred candidate. I saw the clip on the internet before it hit the mainstream, and once it got to that part, all of the mandatory Army training we get made it blatantly obvious.

Pertaining to "but it is words." In my line of work, as well as everywhere else in the world, Words mean things; it's just their meanings change, and in politics, confirmation bias is a common modifier. There were way too many active Soldiers making this rationalization, but if you asked them if it would be acceptable for an Officer or NCO, their cognitive dissonance kicked in, then all of a sudden they applied different standards.

As far as President Trump's previous accusers, I'm sure we both know there are many ways the result could have come to a quiet end, but neither of us will ever truly know, so we can only speculate and laugh.

Out of all of my time at Bragg, I've personally never once heard a Soldier brag about sexually assaulting someone. Which is completely irrelevant to my large exposure to general profanity, and my casual usage of it as well. Granted, I have had the unfortunate duty of transporting a Soldier charged of Attempted Rape, from Afghanistan, back to the U.S.; while I was traveling back for block leave. What he allegedly did to her in his failed attempt was horrific; she fought back, ripped of his dog tags, and he allegedly beat her face to the point she was unrecognizable.

Regardless of that last point, as citizens, we should be able to objectively evaluate information, removing political bias from the equation. Until then, we will continue allowing ourselves to be lead blindly by hatred of our opposition, and unreasonable trust in our bias, compromising our ethics and integrity along the way.

This wasn't about President Trump directly, albeit I used his personal situation, because it directly applied, it's about how citizens don't realize the hypocrisy traps they get themselves into, whether on the Left or Right.
