Shorten your axle. This can come in handy for both hot rodders and off road gurus alike. For speed junkies you would do this so you can install wider tires, for trail junkies you would do this to narrow your width so it's easier to get around obstacles. I've personally never done this but had it done on a few cars, I am not much of a TIG welder, which is essential to this kind of job since you would be welding to cast iron. Something I have been meaning to remedy.
