IF Roe v Wade is overturned it will NOT make abortion illegal. I suspect where we will end up is where most of the EU is...with a 12 week limit except for very extenuating circumstances.
There are 23 states waiting with trigger laws - effectively banning abortion in those states. Add in that those states will also seek to criminally charge anyone who gets an abortion in another state that does allow abortion - they are going to ban abortion by overturning Roe. I don't understand how you people don't see it. The states that have these laws are trying to ban it from conception or have no exemptions. And even IF they start out with banning it after so many weeks, what's to stop them from changing the laws?
Also - before the 'PeOpLE CAn TrAvEl EAsIEr noW!" No they can't. It costs money to drive, to fly or take a bus. A lot of women looking to get an abortion don't have the money to travel and they don't have the money to move.
I know it doesn't matter to you because you are at the stage in life you can't have kids anymore. So it doesn't affect you. It's sad that you have so much internalized misogyny that you'd allow this to happen to and affect future generations.

I was going to make the same point to the LTC, but she has me blocked. Guess she cannot support her opinions.
An addition to your post; If the GOP regains control of both houses of congress, you can make book they will introduce bills to make abortion illegal at the federal level.

MSG Stan Hutchison - She's part of the blocking people who they don't like clique.
It's not just abortion - they'll keep going. They'll go after birth control. They're already criminalizing miscarriage. They'll go after gay marriage. The list goes on.
People wanna invoke Handmaid's Tale now that white women are being affected (it's only a dystopia when white people are affected) but she based it on slavery and authoritarian regimes in countries who have oppressed women. HT already happened in this country. And people are ignoring it and this is where we are.

Personally, I don't agree with abortion as a form of birth control. That being said, it isn't my body and I don't feel I have the right to tell some woman what she can or can not do with her body. That should be a personal choice left up to each individual woman.
While I don't support the barbaric practice, I would rather see a woman have access to professionally trained, regulated, inspected, and licensed facilities where she can be safe and receive proper medical care. The alternative is resorting to "rusty coat hanger in the back allley" type of activity and to me that is infinitely worse.
Vasectomies and tubal ligation have high percentages of being reversible. Condoms are cheap. Child support is expensive. Choose wisely.

Fortunately if this does occurs, there are 13 trigger States that will automatically restrict abortions; Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma,Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wyoming. Unfortunately my state New Mexico is not one of them and more abortions will be performed by Texans coming across the border.
