I have read some about the concept. Seems the biggest hurdle to overcome is how to get these rods into space. Maybe with the outsourcing of the launch mission it will become economically feasible.

SSgt Donald Libby - Rods don't have to be anything special. Even simple steel would do the trick, although they'd probably want to have some made of depleted uranium for those bunker-busting chores.
