When comparing Plato's allegory to modern society, it's not hard to see that the media, broadcast and social, have become the shadows on the cave walls.
For those that choose to ignore all media due to personal bias, they choose to stay bound in the cave. They choose confirmation bias for a dopamine hit as they play the guessing game; they are entertained by the shadows. Is it fear that prevents them from seeking another perspective or is it the addiction to the dopamine they receive for the adoration when they guess correctly the next shadow?
Just like the remaining prisoners after the first escapes, those who live in the cave become angry and make threats when exposed to reality. It's time to step outside the cave, reality is full of wonders.
