It is my belief that, along with Nurses Week, there should be a Medics Week. And it is individuals such as this SF Medic that make this argument stronger.

COL he is a hero for several reason besides the obvious, he was a quiet professional. His actions are more than worthy of the MOH. What a hero!

I would agree as well. I now work in healthcare as a Surgical Technologist in the operating room along side registered nurses every day and have done so for the last 28 years, unfortunately we seem to be treated as second level employees yet we are first line in care giving. I have always given the respect due to those hard working nurses and most reciprocate the respect but the " system " has a tendency to minimalize anyone in healthcare that is not a doctor or Nurse. I miss the respect and responsibilities I had when I was in the Army, so different than civilian life.
