When people (Military Personal) make things go boom there are results left to the item and or other near soils and material. This is all a given and known. There is complete science that creates these things as well as another that studies how the booming things act in precise detail. This knowledge is then used to train said personal using the booming items so that they can safely handle & deliver said booming items. This knowledge is also used to teach the delivering personal of the do's and don't-s of how to survive the booming item. Whether it is increasing or decreasing altitude and the range they need to put before themselves and said booming item as to reduce or evade injury.
Okay, now that we all have a base point.

As I watched this I began to wonder how recent were the events that created these geological phenomena. Surely erosion would have "softened" the strata unless they were relatively recent?

I'd expect Amy shock based phenomenon would likely ne observable by the same !eams, esp if discontinuous, essentially an impulse, if you will...I'm just curious, what promoted your interest in such effects, if you could possibly elaborate at all, I'd be most eager to know, honest....
