Agree, but with the politicians and political correctness having more power over readiness and fitness change has to come from true leaders, DA level with some NADS, willing to standup for what's right and not kiss up just for their next promotion.

I agree with the thought things have changed considerably over the past 10+ years. I cannot put my finger on a specific reason, but would like to point out the caliber of our new Soldiers. There is an abundance of great Soldiers out there but unfortunately, I've seen a distinct generational difference over the years. I've been calling it Generation "Why" and this has presented huge leadership challenges for leaders. Entitlement in the military is non-existent and add those few who feel the deserve versus earned makes life and leadership more challenging. Please do not berate me for using a broad brush in describing new Soldiers. Not meant for all or even the majority. It only takes 2 bitter apples to muck up a good apple pie.

I think that senior leadership is not transferring it's senior leadership and as a result the new generation of young leaders and soldiers are having to learn/experience the tough lessons for themselves. As a parent that is one of your ultimate goals to not let your children have to live through/learn experience the pain of these lessons. Knowledge is power but only if it is used to empower the future to gain benefit from that knowledge! Have a Happy New Year!
