The Army’s effort to temporarily replace the M4 with a 7.62 mm rifle is not happening

I've always considered the 5.56 round to be decent for most engagements, but underpowered when you *need* it. While part of the concern was due to modern body armor, I don't know how much a larger round will help or for how long in that department as I've seen body armor rated against 30.06/7.62x54R rounds.
