I can't get the article to open properly, some black thing pops up and blocks my view. I lived and worked in Australia for 6 years. Their military is very professional and capable. However they do rely heavily on the US for support. From what I was told, in an all out war, ie someone tried to invade Australia, they would fire every missile the air force and navy have in the first 20 minutes and would have to wait on the US to resupply them.

Sorry article doesn't work for you but National Geographic channel has a video on this Australian frigate that's preparing to go to the Persian Gulf to combat piracy. It shows them going to the Shakedown and being stressed to the point by professional Observer controller trainer staff for making sure they are validated before they go down range period
