I'm sure the crewdogs at Minot and Barksdale are happy to be employed in the fight now. Nothing builds morale like actually putting warheads on foreheads. This will put those NRI thoughts into the backs of their minds while they enjoy helping the guys on the ground.

The B52 arc light strikes were the only times I witnessed the jungle getting beaten after the bombing we would run patrols out to assess damage and body counts usually just craters and blood trails think that could work in the sand box just fine

Sgt Mike Sarris - The only model of B-52 still being flown is the "H" model and its "only" 52 years old. There are not any plans to replace the old BUFF until the new bomber comes out. The A-10 is still a viable aircraft, but the AF doesn't have enough money to support the F-35 (whose capabilities are still in doubt), so the geniuses want to scrape the A-10 to fund the F-35. Its a stupid idea in my opinion to dump a working system for one that is "iffy" at this point.

Sgt Mike Sarris - Agree! Love the Hog! Beautiful to see them in the air. I went to a GLCM school in D-M AFB, AZ in 1984...loved to see them flying all around!

MSgt Fred Gondzar - I worked with the Hog at Myrtle Beach AFB for nearly 8 years, including our trip to Saudi Arabia. After seeing how much better it performed under Combat conditions compared to peacetime, how anyone in the AF Brass can even consider retiring it is ridiculous! The F-35 will NEVER be able to do what the A-10 does, but it's not fast, or sexy, so the AF has never really liked it. Give it to the Army or Marines, they'll be more than happy to take it!

I grew up not far from Air Force Bases, Scott, Wright Patterson and Richards Gebaur. I love the B-52s and A-10s.
