The birth pains of the NHS

Generally, those in Britain with whom I correspond either love the NHS or hate it. It depends upon the state of one's health. If you're healthy, the illusion of health care is very comforting. In not, you come to realize that health care under the NHS is only an illusion. The same is true in Canada. That's why I fight so hard against the "single-payer" plan being advocated here.
