What an ugly part of Japanese War history, which I never knew anything about... So very sad for those women...

The "comfort women" were not just confined to China and Korea. Almost all of SE Asia that Japan invaded had "comfort stations". In a sense, they have continued to exist even through the HIV/AIDS pandemic. We can only hope that the World's oldest profession will someday no longer exist.

When I was in Korea in 1986 “comfort women” had matured and realized they had no reason to be ashamed and started confronting Japanese dignitaries about the issue. That was when I became aware.
