The Capture of Messines H1908-01 | Footage Farm

On June 7, 1917, the British detonated 20 mines beneath the German-held Messines Ridge, in the Ypres area. If you go to about 4 minutes into the video, you will see the depth of the crater. There is no longer a hill but instead a 70' deep crater.

SGT (Join to see) A crater remains at 70 feet deep? That is more of a statement that the Crater at Petersburg!
