I expect you have invested time, energy and resources to bring comfort to those who are in physical and/or emotional pain, stability to those who are unstable, are secure places for those suffering from PTSD and other mental illnesses and injuries to rest/sleep safely. No doubt your confident yet humble demonstration of servant leadership is noteworthy and builds up confidence in the people you lead. ‘Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.’ [Philippians 2:3-4 ESV] I hope and pray that each of us encourage those who look up to us for leadership, guidance and advice. I pray that you and I seek the LORD’s guidance to find the best use of our time and energy day-by-day. 'Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish. I pray LORD that YOU open the eyes and ears of each adopted son and daughter of God who reads or listens to this prayer. Enable us to think before we speak and to never utter deceptive promises we will not fulfill especially to our spouse or children. YOU always fulfil YOUR promises as YOU fulfil YOUR Word to each and every generation of humanity. ‘Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.’ [Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV]
Thank you, LORD for healing each adopted son and daughter of all our sins, past, present and future and fully justifying us for the death penalty for sin. YOUR atonement on the cross heals each of YOUR elect from all sin and the penalty for time and eternity. ‘But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. [Isaiah 53:5-6 ESV]
LORD I pray for sufficient endurance in doing well, goodness, and compassion for each of us to demonstrate love to our neighbors and strangers. For those who serve in prison ministries, I pray for grace and discernment as they work within the prison systems to share and demonstrate the gospel ‘Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.’ [Hebrews 13:1-3 ESV]
Too many seem to be confused about the giftings of the LORD. I pray that YOU deliver each of us from false teachings. ‘'For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.’ [1 Corinthians 12:8-10 ESV]
I pray that you and I heed the admonition of the LORD on foundation, Biblical love is the most important to the LORD. HE reminds us in chapters 12 and 13 of 1 Corinthians:
1. that without love we are a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal ‘Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.’ [1 Corinthians 12:27-31, 13 ESV]
2. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.' [1 John 1:8-10 ESV]
