Good “Monday!” Morning “Burroughs’ Posse Leader from the now Crystal clear blue skies of Greater Boston!
It is: “Calm Mind Day!” Why not?
My Personal Quote
"Keeping a calm mind allows one to manage difficult situations easier than if one's mind is cluttered and tense." - Kerry Harkins - April 26, 2021
“Calmness is a huge gift. And once you master it, you will be able to respond in a useful way to every difficult situation that decides to walk into your heart.” - Geri Larkin
“A calm mind is able to see things logically and with clarity. Stillness of mind can only be achieved by relieving it of negativity. To relieve the mind of negativity, it becomes necessary to rid it of waste and fill it with nothing but positivity.” - Anonymous
"The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater his success, his influence, his power for good. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom. It is the result of long and patient effort in self-control. Its presence is an indication of ripened experience, and of a more than ordinary knowledge of the laws and operations of thought.” - James Allen
In my view you will find that...
"Leaders who have a calm mind instead of being impulsive, anxious, or prone to anger are more likely to inspire trust and loyalty." — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

COL Burroughs:
Your calm mind is the ultimate weapon against your challenges.
Realizing this is true,
some times calming calm my mind takes a bit of effort.

I hope your mind is calm independent of all circumstances. I expect that you are calm, reasonable, and reassuring in this early spring 2021 while many are terrified of the COVID-19 risk. No doubt many have recognized your ability to be calm and rational in facing unforeseen problems and issues. 'For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ [Galatians 5:13-14 ESV] my brother-in-Christ Sgt (Join to see).
I lift homeless veterans, those service members, veterans and police, fire and rescue personnel suffering from PTSD/TBI and parents of young children and those children who are frightened to YOU LORD. I pray that YOU bless the homeless and mentally suffering individuals with a peaceful night’s sleep. 'Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.’ [Romans 12:2 ESV]
I pray for sufficient mental stability, calmness under pressure, and fruit of the spirit peace and self-control for each and every adopted son and daughter of God who reads or hears this prayer. LORD I am thankful that YOU are in complete control of every aspect of our life and all of creation. By YOUR grace, YOU are working all to good for the body of Christ corporately and each of us individually in YOUR perfect timing. 'And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.' [‘Romans 8:28-30 ESV]
I pray for patience, discernment, knowledge and abundant love for parents, guardians, grandparents and extended family who are caring for young children. In this early spring of 2021, when a significant number of people are wearing face masks which hide much of their face, many young children are confused and some fearful since they are inhibited from seeing facial expressions clearly. I pray that each one spending time with young children is reassuring the children that they are loved by action more than words. ‘And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.’ [Mark 10:13-16 ESV]
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Monday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Tuesday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Good morning Col Burroughs and Posse and we have the start of another week and the last week of April! Time is flying by.
A calm mind is a true gift, but it is one that we all can have. When I did workshops in person, the most requested one was the one about improving communication. Now that we have the pandemic and the virtual workshops, the most requested one is Creating Calmness. It's clear that this is something that many people recognize they have to work on if they are going to function well. When we get upset/agitated/angry/stressed, we downshift into our survival brain. That brain helps us survive the attack of a predator but it doesn't have the ability to think clearly and make well thought out decisions. That's why you want to calm yourself and focus before making important decisions. Press "pause" breathe, focus and then speak. It will save you a great deal of trouble and even backtracking at times.
