Good morning Col Burroughs and Posse and thanks for a great time last evening. Wishing you a safe ride to NYC today and a successful fundraising day. You gave Tom and I much to think about and you've raised the bar on our expectations.
Raising the bar can be on your performance, on something in your life, on your relationships. It all starts with an evaluation of your expectations. What is it you expect to accomplish and then where can you improve those results? Perhaps as Col B is doing with his fundraising and by opening a center in Colorado ahead of schedule. Perhaps by letting go of one area to focus on another, more promising one. It pays to sit down periodically and look at what you are doing and where the bar should be raised.
Even something as relatively simple as raising the bar on your savings if you are still working...raise the bar, find a way to put aside a bit more so that you can make a future better (home, college, car, business) will make a huge difference.

I expect that you understand that the most important bar for humanity was set by the LORD before time began. I hope that you like I greatly appreciate the grace of God WHO sacrificed HIS own blood to atone for our sins in order for us to be justified before God. No doubt you have benefitted from gradually raising a bar as a child in training and as a recovering patient. Perhaps you like me reviled in sinning before salvation as sexually immoral, thieves, greedy, drunkards, revilers, and/or swindlers. I pray that you and I thank God daily. 'And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.' 1 Cor 6:11 ESV] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown

I lift medical professionals, trainers and educators to YOU LORD. I pray that YOU bless the medical and rehabilitative professionals with discernment, patience, skill, and compassion as they work to help people recover from injuries and diseases. I pray that YOU give insight and great communication skills to educators and trainers who are training and educating children, military personnel and others undergoing training. ‘It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons’ [Hebrews 12:6-7 ESV]
I pray LORD that YOU bless each adopted son and daughter of God who reads or listens to this prayer to YOU LORD sufficient humility, endurance in doing well and especially in assisting others to reach the bar and encouraging them to meet and exceed requirements. I am thankful that YOU bless parents within sight to train their children. I pray for attentiveness and discernment for each parent as they raise the bar and encourage their children to meet it, then praise the child and raise the bar again for the training and education of their children – from tricycles, to training wheels to riding bikes; from learning the alphabet, to enunciating, to reading on their own, and increasing the level of what they read. ‘At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.’ [Matthew 18:1-4 ESV]
Remember the admonition of the LORD, do your best to be dignified, sober-minded, self-controlled and steadfast in sound doctrine. HE reminds us in Titus 2 ‘But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled [Titus 2:1-5 ESV]

I told the Finance Detachment to provide work class service to Ft Riley and they accomplished that. I was very pleased and proud of the NCOs and soldiers.

It is only fitting to reward them in a world class manner. I had to think outside the box. I talked to the MEDEVAC to see if they would fly my soldiers around. They agreed and we had a tremendous relationship with them. I suppose it helped to open the door by saying I was a young soldier in the 160th and an Armor Officer.

I had some fun. Before the soldiers flew they went to my office and inspect them for a Kevlar and ID tags. I issued them commercial grade barf bags. I gave them a gift certificate for two large pizzas to give to the pilots. This was standard practice every time the soldiers flew.

We all won in this situation. The soldiers had fun. The pilots enjoyed flying the soldiers around and showing off their skills, and they got free pizzas. I was tickled. What I planned worked well. I wanted to say thank you to the soldiers and to give them a great opportunity to have fun.

This is just a slice of the various projects, venues, and events I planned for the soldiers to boost their morale. I can say with much appreciation the morale of the soldiers was quite high. Nobody ETSed. Nobody bitched. One time we had a week long field problem in December. It was zero degrees and snowing heavily, but surprisingly we all enjoyed it and each other’s company. One night in the tent, a young soldier with chem lights started to dance in the dark. We were all amused.

I loved my soldiers, and I like to think that feeling was mutual. To be give the sons and daughters of this country is a tremendous honor and responsibility. I wanted them to grow professionally and personally, and I pushed it, planned it, and I became the conduit or catalyst. I think all military leaders should feel the same.

I need some coffee. Coffee is good.
