Good morning Col Burroughs. We just got up and are unpacking from our travel to Arkansas. We made an offer on a home and it was accepted. When I get my coffee and something to eat, I will respond more.

I’m back!!,

Once again, Good morning, All! Caring is something that we all need sometimes. When we do receive that care we should remember to pay it forward, because others have need for caring as well. We can give that care physically to someone, as well as spiritually caring for them too. I have shared a couple of scripture verses below as well as a link that I found interesting. Have a blessed day today and always.

– 1 Peter 1:22. And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ. – Ephesians 4:32. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

What does God say about caregivers.
Hebrews 6:10
“For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.

BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES FOR CARING FOR ONE ANOTHER
I work in an environment of forced care….

I work with police as their chaplain and they work in an environment of forced care. No matter what call those officers are sent to, they are forced to provide care to victims of theft, vehicle accidents, homicides, personal assaults, domestic violence...…you get the idea. Wherever they go they are supposed to be at 100%, providing excellence in care and law enforcement services. Regardless of who they find when they get out of their car, they are charged with a professional oath to provide respect and dignity to whomever needs assistance, because their profession demands a culture of helping others. That is a pretty tall order especially since, at best, only a fraction of law enforcement officers are professing believers in Jesus Christ.

So that makes me want to ask, “Do believers live with an attitude that we are forced to care?” Why should we as children of God wrestle with this issue about aiding someone or anyone other than myself or my family? Who do I have to care for in regard to my Christian faith? Do I have options?”

This little blog really shouldn’t be an opinion piece…. it is not my call. God’s Word is the authority on how believers interrelate with the church family, our families and even how to act and react to the non-Christians we deal with on a daily basis. Here are a few principles from the Word of God that provide honest, measurable and attainable objectives for caring believers.

Confidence in the Christian Experience
Caring for one another is founded on the life altering, love relationship with Christ. John 13:34-35 says, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

Exercise and Perfect Your Caring by Practicing Your Testimony in Service to Your Family
Many times I have failed to demonstrate my love and Christian experience with my family because I was too busy being the pastor, chaplain, youth leader or active church supporter instead of the father or husband to my family that needed to see God’s love and compassion through my ministry to them and their needs. What good am I if I do many wonderful things for the others but neglect the spiritual needs of my precious loved ones? Live out your faith first to the ones you live with, then expand the love and care you are perfecting to those in the family of faith.

Caring is a Choice
I have to wrestle with and choose to put other’s best interest before my own. Our human nature cry’s out, “Me First!” Romans 12:10 instructs and praises those who will, “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

Caring Helps Share the Load
Galatians 6:2 says, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” I took a massive hit and was knocked out in a football game in high school. When I came to and they were ready to take me off the field, two of my team mates, one on each side of me, shouldered my weight so I could hobble off the field with their help. And that is the implication of that verse; believers helping to carry the weight of other believers to get them to the next point in their spiritual walk. Caring brings people further along in the Christian experience.

Caring Goes Above and Beyond Minimum Requirements
Caring invokes a proactive drive to help support your Christian brothers and sisters. We, as believers go beyond toleration, we go beyond sibling spats, we are pushed and driven by the Spirit of God to, “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:32). Doing good to one another brings forgiveness with it. Because even when we are trying to do good things (and often in our own way) there can be adverse or detrimental effects of good intentions. Caring for believers includes the spirit of forgiveness in action all the time, not just when you feel like it.

The Last Word
Caring is acknowledging Jesus in common place activities of life as we walk through the day and affect those we meet. Matthew 25:40 emphasizes Christian acts of caring when Jesus says in the scripture, "The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.” Those people being talked about in the scripture story that Jesus was talking about, didn’t realize that the positive things they were doing were actually things focused on God. They did those things, those deeds, those actions because of the underlying joy they had (because of their faith in God). So your acts of compassion, caring, burden sharing, people favoring above self, family loving, shared confidence in your faith in Christ…mean you are doing it to Jesus!

Think about that and enjoy living it, Amen!

I expect you are spiritually mature enough to demonstrate humility, and compassion for neighbors and pay attention to the prompting and guidance of the Holy Spirit and are quick in responding to HIM. I hope that people have benefited from you volunteering your time, talents, and advice over the years. No doubt you have inspired family members and others to volunteer their help based on your example. I expect you comprehend that the LORD cares for you and those you and I love infinitely more than we do. 'Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.' [1st Peter 5:6-7 ESV]. my brother-in-Christ PO1 H Gene Lawrence and sister-in-Christ Linda Lawrence.

LORD I pray for bless each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads this prayer or hears this prayer, with an increase in truthfulness, humility, and grace. 'Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.' [Galatians 6:2-5 ESV]. Empower us to speak and write the truth in love with deference to share without deliberate or accidental insult. 'Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.' [Colossians 4:5-6 ESV]
I pray that each one of us is growing in grace and wisdom. We understand that ‘the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.’ [Proverbs 9:10] I pray that we increasingly place our trust in YOU as we make our way through these challenging times. I am grateful that YOU guide us day by day and lead us towards the wonders YOU have in store for each of us. ‘Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. [Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV]
I pray for patience, discernment, knowledge and abundant love for parents, guardians, grandparents and extended family who are caring for young children. In this season when a significant number of people are still wearing face masks which hide much of their face, many young children are confused and some fearful since they are inhibited from seeing facial expressions clearly. I pray that each one invests time and effort with the young children and reassures the child that they are loved by action more than words. ‘There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.’ [1 John 4:18-19 ESV]
I lift widows, widowers, disabled veterans, disabled civilians, and those who depend on them or support their needs. I pray that YOU guide individuals with time, talent, treasure and good listening skills to come alongside those who are lonely and in need of fellowship. ‘Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.’ [James 1:2-4 ESV]
I pray for courage and trustworthiness for deployed service members, police men and women, investigators, EMT personnel, medical triage and infectious disease specialists and other focused on defending our nation and protecting citizens, visitors, and others as well as their family members to YOU dear LORD. I pray that YOU bless each with endurance in doing good, sufficient strength to perform their duties, and moral courage to stand up for what is right, noble and true. 'Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoiced in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. [Romans 5:2-5 ESV]
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Monday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Tuesday morning.

Good morning Col Burroughs and Posse and it's MONDAY! The sun is shining here after a couple of thunderstorms last night cleared the air and watered everything. I'm happy!
Caring. That's what being human is (or should be) about. Reaching out and doing our best for others. Giving of ourselves. That's why we call it military SERVICE not military work. We care for our country and our brothers and sisters in uniform and we are willing to sacrifice for them. That is what it is truly all about. I've spent the majority of my adult life in some sort of service to others and have found it to be the most rewarding part of living.
