I hope that you adopted the leadership style of servant leadership long ago. Assuming that you have, I expect those you lead and those who trust your judgement appreciate your leadership and advice. No doubt you realize that our LORD is a servant leader WHO sacrificed HIMSELF for all of us on the cross. ‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.’ [John 15:12-13 ESV] my brother-in-Christ Sgt (Join to see).

I lift the destitute, the afflicted, those suffering from mental illness and injury including PTSD and TBI, the widows, the widowers and the orphans to you dear LORD. I pray that each adopted son and daughter of YOURS who reads this prayer has an increase of compassion and mercy for each of these individuals. ‘But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. [James 1:22-25 ESV] Give each of us eyes to see and ears to hear how we can be of assistance to those in need. ‘Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. [James 1:27 ESV]
By God’s grace, noble leaders learn from their own errors more than their successes and they take responsibility for the results of their decisions. Noble leaders seek wisdom from God. Foolish ‘leaders’ are self-focused and demand glory for themselves at the expense of others. ‘Blessed is the one who fears the LORD always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity. Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people. A ruler who lacks understanding is a cruel oppressor, but he who hates unjust gain will prolong his days.’ [Proverbs 28:14-16 ESV]
LORD I pray for an increase of humility and decrease of hubris for elected leaders and legislators throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico, UK, France, India, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand. I pray that elected and appointed officials seek wise counsel and eschew corrupt counseling and counselors. I pray that YOU bless the wise leaders with an increase of wisdom and negotiation capabilities. Empower them to stand firm on noble principles and be willing to compromise on matters which do not conflict with bedrock principles. ‘Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. [Proverbs 9:9-10 ESV].
LORD YOU know the foolish leaders and sycophants and are allowing them to be on top for a season. By YOUR grace YOU allow time to pass in order that more will recognize their own need for wisdom and a relationship with YOU. YOUR patience is a blessing. ‘What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory' [Romans 9:22-23 ESV]
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Thursday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Friday morning.

Good morning Col Burroughs and Posse. We are having a tough morning here, weatherwise so I will keep my fingers crossed that the power stays up and the internet as well. It's switched over to that scary and damaging icy rain that we sometimes get here in the winter.
Engaging people is all about finding out where they are and meeting them there. The first question I tend to ask when people come to see me is "What brings you here today?" Front and center, this is about you and your needs, not me. When I meet people socially, I also tend to ask a lot of questions about them and then listen carefully for the answers; it's a great way to connect with people since so many don't seem to have anyone to listen to them. Engaging isn't about reading someone's email; as often as possible, it is about connecting with them personally, their needs, concerns and wishes. In this time when circumstances make it difficult, what can you do to engage?

People are our biggest asset and listening to them, understanding them and making them successful is our duty, responsibility and inspiration.
