Good morning Col Burroughs and Posse. It's Thursday and an overcast day in Northern VA
Expecting nothing is a point of view we seem to rarely see anymore. There is much more "quid pro quo" than kindness, generosity or caring for the sake of itself. I often get asked why I do volunteer work when I could get paid to do what I do for free. I do it for the satisfaction of knowing I did the right thing, or I helped someone or I made the world a slightly better place. If something positive comes back to me, it's a bonus, but I don't expect it.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - We have the same philosophy for sure Charlie - I love what I do and never ask for anything in return. I see the difference in veteran's lives that I've made and that is good enough for me. You have a great day and I hope that sun comes through later today Charlie...Thanks for all the great quotes and your personal thoughts today...

“Today the message is about selfless acts of kindness and giving of your time and talents to help others. Have that unselfish regard and devotion to the welfare of others. That leads me to this quote for today…

‘Expect nothing and appreciate everything.’ — Unknown Author

May you embrace the fact that doing good is reward enough and you will reap the benefit in so many other ways; may your mind, body, and soul be opened to grace, goodness, peace, forgiveness, and a continued bountiful life of purpose; and keep your family safe, secure, happy, and healthy. Doing a good deed helps you focus your thoughts outward toward other that may need your assistance and support. It can help you reduce your stress, and it may even help you live longer. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Down and feeling like a waste, we pickup such souls and make them realize that their lives are useful and needed.
Depressed and feeling like a burden, we lift these souls up and ingrain in them that they are part of a community that is counting on their contributions.
We are not the Almighty at all, yet we try to follow in the Almighty's footsteps.

Lt Col Charlie Brown, when I assist poor families, I never expect ROI on my investments, because such expectations are frivolous and will prove unsuccessful and unsustainable in short order. We have Sixers or Chakhas in India, who beg and donate to the Almighty. These crossbreed personalities are exploited by Politicians, the Police and others to fulfill their jollies that are incomplete from home. Assistance to such groups can be very tricky and dangerous. Expectancy of an ROI is foolish, like an April fool's day. I have successfully assisted several Sixers to shelters to avoid their exploitation too.

I expect that you are generous with your talents and resources. I hope that you are conscientious, kind, and increasingly selfless with the time you invest in relationships. No doubt many people seek your advice as well as your time. I pray that you and I are spiritually mature enough to offer assistance to those who resent us as well as those who appreciate us. ‘If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.’ [Luke 6:32, 35-36 ESV] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.

I pray that each and every of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who read or hear this prayer are spiritually mature enough to offer service to our neighbors as well as our friends and family members. In this COVID risk season far too many are too aloof to offer assistance even to the needy and desperate. LORD motivate and guide each of us to be beacons of light in this darkening time. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. [Matthew 6:14-16 ESV]
LORD I pray that spouses, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other family members are involved with demonstrating love and respect to each person we interact with. Let us educate our children and others by demonstration and action primarily supplemented with words. Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. … “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. [Romans 13:8, 9c, 10 ESV]
I pray for compassion and kindness offered to widows, widowers, divorcees, homeless, orphans, street children, and outcasts of society in this Easter timeframe. Let YOUR love shine through YOUR Own to light up the lives of those who are grieving. I pray that each of us are careful as we walk the walk and let us make wise use of the time in this challenging season. “But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. [Ephesians 5:13-16]
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Thursday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Friday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Seated on the aisle at the back of the plane preparing to take off from Orange County California to Oakland, the storage compartment over the head of the man seated opposite me opened. We both turned to the flight attendants seated in the compartment behind us to call their attention to the issue but they were too busy talking among themselves to notice us. My fellow passenger quickly unbuckled and closed it. The sound of the door latching caught a flight attendant's attention and she scurried forward to reprimand the miscreant for getting out of his seat as the plane began to roll forward on its takeoff run. After she returned to her seat, I turned to the man and said, "No good deed..."

You were too nice CPT Jack Durish I would have called her down immediately and let her know if she would have been paying attention she would have noticed that the compartment came open on his own and that she should be thanking the other passeneger for his quick reaction - but that is me brother... Thanks for sharing my friend...

Good “Thursday!” Morning “Burroughs’ Posse Leader from the evaporating fog of Fort Myers where the temps for the next few days are going to be seasonal as a cold front pushes the warm air south and east...

It is: “Expecting Nothing Day!” Why & Why not?

MY PERSONAL QUOTE:
"When you help or aid someone, what do you expect in return? If you said nothing you would be right. Aiding someone in need, whatever it may be, to the best of your ability, is and should be its own gratification." - Kerry F. Harkins April 1, 2021

"If you expect nothing from somebody you are never disappointed.” - Sylvia Plath

“When you expect nothing from the world – not the light of the sun, the wet of water, nor the air to breathe – everything is a wonder and every moment a gift.” - Michael J. Sullivan

“To desire and expect nothing for oneself and to have profound sympathy for others is genuine humility.” - Ivan Turgenev

“The wise expect nothing, hope for nothing, thus avoiding all disappointment and anxiety.” - Alexandra David-Neel

“Don’t just show kindness in passing or to be courteous. Show it in depth, show it with passion, and expect nothing in return. Kindness is not just about being nice; it’s about recognizing another human being who deserves care and respect.” - Colin Powell

As you continue on your life's journey you may want to consider that you will find it better to...

“Be the invisible leader that gives without expectation of getting anything in return. Be selfless and authentic!”— COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs
