Good Friday morning Col Burroughs and Posse. I have my RED shirt ready for this afternoon's workshop.
Embracing change. Failure to do so is what leaves us stuck where we are. I get people who complain about their lives or relationships but then when given the option to make changes, fail to do so. Why? They would rather stay in the unhappiness they know, then have to embrace something unfamiliar and new. That requires a willingness to take risks they simply are not ready to do. But until they are, they cannot move forward.
Most of us have a place or a path that is blocked by our unwillingness to change. Maybe it is your lifestyle, perhaps it concerns your health or well being (spiritual, mental or emotional). Look at it objectively and see if you can embrace a change that will make it better.

I solved this issue many years ago. I simply do not talk about 'change' - especially if it requires someone else to do it. Why? Well, the minute you mention the word 'change' - most people 'freeze up'. Instead, I started using the word 'evolve (or evolution)' to define my intentions and / or goals (regarding change). I found that simple terminology 'change' seemed to open people up to actually considering and doing it. I think the word 'change' implies doing something different, FAST and - as one of the posters (above) mentioned, people do not want to change there routines - but are often willing to evolve them to a different level if its presented as a 'gradual process'. Example, in 2004, I was sent to Albania to 'change' the way they trained Law Enforcement Officers. I was going to change a process which had been successful since before WWII, so I knew telling these 'Old' GENs/COLs running their program I was going to change it would simply not work. SO, when I first briefed the Minister of Public Order and his Senior Police Leadership, I praised their existing program and explained how I wanted to 'evolve' it to a higher level. Of course, they laughed. HOWEVER, after a very short time and demonstrating how the 'evolution' of their processes would make their program more effective, I saw a transition. The Minister began using the word "evolve" as did his Senior Police Leaders. In the end, their entire program was revised - willingly.

I expect that you have embraced many unexpected changes, and a number of significant challenges over your recent lifetime with fortitude and periodic grace. Hopefully you and I demonstrate love and respect to our friends and neighbors even though we don’t get very close physically in this COVID-risk season. I pray that we each are willing and able to embrace family members including giving and receiving hugs. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. [Galatians 6:9-10 ESV] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.

I lift the most vulnerable people, the outcasts of society, the homeless, and their family members to YOU dear LORD. I pray that You alert the prayer warriors and motivate people to come to the aid of those who are in great need this night. 'Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.’ [Romans 15:7 ESV]
I pray for the recently terminated from employment and their family members, the small businesses, transportation and distribution networks, towns at risk of going bankrupt because their government leaders are foolishly focused on will-o-the-wisp objectives and consider their constituents as low priority. ‘Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.’ [James 1:12 ESV]
I pray for the medical, EMT and support element personnel on the front lines of COVID and other communicable diseases; the police, Federal Marshalls and investigative agents focused on detecting, interdicting crime and protecting the citizens; the deployed service members; and the families of each one of those dedicated professionals. I pray that YOU bless each one to endure with grace. ‘Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.' [James 1:2-4 ESV]
LORD I lift mature government leaders and their governments to you in various US states, Canada, Mexico, UK, France, India, Israel, Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. ‘Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.’ [Romans 13:1-2 ESV]
As far as leaders, legislatures and judges who are focused on selfish agendas including vengeance, lording over their political opposition, abandoning their constituents, and leveraging corruption for political advantage. ‘For without cause they hid their net for me; without cause they dug a pit for my life. Let destruction come upon him when he does not know it! And let the net that he hid ensnare him; let him fall into it—to his destruction! [Psalm 35:7-8 ESV]
They ignore the admonishment of the LORD ‘But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.’ [Matthew 5:44-45 ESV]
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Friday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Saturday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs here is an EMBRACING VIDEO SHARE to go along with the read:

Breezy shares her experience of getting cancer at age 9, having her leg amputated, and overcoming it by having a positive attitude. Even in the early days of her diagnosis, she focused on only the good, like crossing the finish line at a difficult triathlon with a prosthetic leg or becoming a role model to others in need. Listen to Breezy's story as she talks about embracing and overcoming life's challenges.

At 12 years old, Brianne "Breezy" Bochenek has marshaled strength and maturity beyond her years. At age 9, she faced one of life's biggest challenges when diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer. Breezy endured months of chemotherapy and made the brave decision to amputate her left leg. Her positive attitude and resilience has inspired many and ignited a community of support. As Breezy gets back in the game, she is helping those in need along the way. Breezy is determined to be a role model, sharing a powerful message of how she chooses to live each day.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Good “R.E.D Friday” Morning “Burroughs’ Posse Leader and and Posse members! Great day here in FOrt Myers with clear skies, a temp of 57° headed up to about 76° not bad at all...

“Embracing Day!” Why Not?

1) "There's two sorts of fear: one you embrace and one you should listen to and turn the other way. Matthew McConaughey

2) "We cannot embrace God's forgiveness if we are so busy clinging to past wounds and nursing old grudges. T. D. Jakes

3) "Humility is the true key to success. Successful people lose their way at times. They often embrace and overindulge from the fruits of success. Humility halts this arrogance and self-indulging trap. Humble people share the credit and wealth, remaining focused and hungry to continue the journey of success." - Rick Pitino

4) "Your life is like a play with several acts. Some of the characters who enter have short roles to play, others, much larger. Some are villains and others are good guys. But all of them are necessary; otherwise, they wouldn't be in the play. Embrace them all, and move on to the next act. Wayne Dyer

5) "Once you have an innovation culture, even those who are not scientists or engineers - poets, actors, journalists - they, as communities, embrace the meaning of what it is to be scientifically literate. They embrace the concept of an innovation culture. They vote in ways that promote it. They don't fight science and they don't fight technology." - Neil deGrasse Tyson

The world is and has been in constant flux for millennia and people have been in flux as well and know that...

“Leadership will never be static. You need to evolve and embrace change at every turn with a flexibility and willingness to adapt!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Thanks for dropping in this morning Sgt (Join to see) and providin us with the additional quotes. I haope you have a great day and weekend brother...

“Take some today to embrace all of life’s moments, memories, and adventures. Heal others through your embrace. Embrace a veteran, first responder, service member, or caregiver that can use that healing power. ‘Embracing life! Finding balance in your life! That is what we all strive for. In leadership, nothing is static, it is filled with chaos, sometimes uncertainty, and constant change. Be ready to embrace and adapt. May you embrace your own life today and in the future; may your mind, body, and soul be opened to grace, goodness, peace, forgiveness, and a continued bountiful life of purpose; and keep your family safe, secure, happy, and healthy. Join the ‘Colonel’ Saturday night as we talk about the acronym LOVE (L-Listen, O-Observe, V-Value, and E-Embrace) with Warriors for Life (WFL). Healing is opening what has been closed and embracing what is feared.” – COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs
