Good morning Col Burroughs and Posse. It's another RED Friday. I had a long piece written and it all disappeared on me. We'll see how much I can reconstruct.
Involvement is the key to any success whether it is that of a child with his or her parents; an organization with its employees and customers; a non profit with its supporters or a family (blood or not) with the other members of the group.

Studies show that involvement is key to our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being. We were not meant to function alone which is one of the reasons so many are struggling right now as they are isolated due to the pandemic, the weather or by unfortunate choices. The number one predictor of success in school is not economic status or the school system; it is parental involvement. Think about Ben Carson's story of a very involved single mother. It can be done. It takes time and commitment. No success happens without that sort of effort.
What is it that you feel you should be involved in to help insure success? I work toward veteran mental health through my involvement in VFV and Red Cross. That's where I put my time and effort

Part of today's issues stem from lack of parent involvement with their kids from a young age!

I expect that you have voluntarily involved yourself in many noble enterprises over your lifetime thus far. No doubt in military service or other dutiful service you were involuntarily involved in activities that challenged your principles and aspirations. I hope you have come to terms with what you have done and you have lifted your issues to the LORD. God is always willing and able to take our burdens and give us rest. ’Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’ [Matthew 11:28] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.

I pray for wisdom, discernment, compassion and mercy for the elected and appointed leaders, judges and magistrates throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico, UK, Ireland, Poland, Israel, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand. I pray that YOU motivate them to involve themselves in solving the serious issues facing their constituents. I pray they commit themselves to unbiased support for constituents, unbiased justice, and an increase of graciousness. I pray that YOU prompt bureaucrats to listen to those who contact them in person or remotely. ‘Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. [Proverbs 9:9-10 ESV].
I lift parents, grandparents, other family members, friends, and others who desire to bless others who need assistance to YOU LORD. I pray you give wisdom and compassion to those who are making decisions to care for or allow trained people to care for loved ones including aging parents. grandparents and severely injured or ill loved ones. I pray that YOU bless those who desire to assist, support, and/or involve themselves in the relocation of loved ones, the financial and/or physical support of loved ones with endurance to do good for whomever YOU prod them to. ‘And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.’ [Galatians 6:9-10 ESV]
I lift deployed servicemembers and others who are focused on protecting, supporting, and interdicting; the police, security and investigative personnel focused on protecting the citizens, the borders, the towns, neighborhoods and investigating crimes from murder, rape, and larceny through rioting and looting; those on the front lines of dealing with infection from treating through triage; to YOU dear LORD. I pray that YOU bless teach leader, manager and individual with wisdom, discernment, sufficient knowledge and skill to accomplish the tasks they are required to perform. ‘I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.’ [Psalm 38:8-9 ESV]
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Friday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Saturday morning.

COL Mikel Burroughs good read/share: for the Colonel's Motivational Quotes of the Day. Where the mighty American Bald Eagles roam in the mighty MOUNTAINS OF CASTLE ROCK, COLORADO AMONG THEIR EAGLES-NEST. I know the view must be MAGNIFICENT on this day February 19, 2021 as you might glance upon the mighty snow capped mountains headed into the month of March. As you know I would respond a lot throughout the week, but I am full-time DOD employee doing contracts for the Defense Contracting Management Agency. It is good to have some time on my break to respond my friend. "HAPPY RED FRIDAY"

Today’s Message is: “Involvement Day!” Why Not? I quote, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” — Benjamin Franklin

This falls right in line with the "Edge" training method, that we use in the BSA.
E = Explain
D = Demonstrate
G = Guide
E = Enable

Hands on training is always better, at least for me, than trying to figure something out from a book.

Good “R.E.D Friday” Morning “Burroughs’ Posse Leader from an overcast SW Florida where winds are from the South bringing us some warm, but humid air before the wind changes to the North with a front moving in which will cool us off significantly for a day or two before warming up again... LOL!

I hope all goes well for you and your daughter and whoever is helping with the move from San Diego, CA to Tucson, AZ... Be safe my friend...

Let’s “Remember Everyone Deployed” until they return home once again!

It is “Involvement Day!” Is it not? Let's get involved Brothers and Sisters!

1) "At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child's success is the positive involvement of parents." - Jane D. Hull

2) "You teach me, I forget. You show me, I remember. You involve me, I understand." - E. O. Wilson

3) "I recommend limiting one's involvement in other people's lives to a pleasantly scant minimum. This may seem too stoical a position in these madly passionate times, but madly passionate people rarely make good on their madly passionate promises." - Quentin Crisp - English writer

4) "The purpose of the mission must be thoroughly understood beforehand, and the men must be inspired with a sense of personal dedication that knows no limitations... In an age of high technology and Jedi Knights, we often overlook the need for personal involvement, but we do so at our own risk." - William H. McRaven - 4-Star Admiral, US Navy Retired

And what about Leadership folks? Read on...

“Leadership involvement comes down to one thing – leading by example – highly engaged!" — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs
