I prefer to "Earn it" or get it the "Hard Way" myself Maj Robert Thornton, as you...I appreciate it more and I remember it better when it wasn't easy.
Good thing I am a quick study when it comes to anything mechanical or dealing with the trades. Just knowing how to do something and not having to call someone has saved me just during my 31 year marriage (My Wife changes her mind on decorating and additions) easily $300,000 plus....Always learning which makes me always earning!

I pray that you exercise wisdom as you work and you teach those you are responsible for to work wisely and conscientiously, my friend and brother-in-Christ Maj Robert Thornton.
Heavenly Father, YOU designed human beings to work through physical and mental labor to benefit ourselves and those we support both as dependents and as employers.
LORD, I pray that each of us works wisely and understands that rest, nourishment, using good quality materiel, and skill are important aspects of accomplishing physical work. Mental work also requires rest, nourishment, and skill.
By the grace of God there is no human effort required for salvation. Yet once we have been justified by God through salvation, we who are the adopted sons and daughters of God will be performing good work for others as an outworking of our faith in God.
I pray LORD that YOU move heaven and earth to comfort the grieving, provide sustenance to the starving, sources of heat including warm clothing for those shivering in the cold, compassionate visitors to the prisons and the hospital wards as well as hospice.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Good morning from snowy Northern Virginia COL Mikel J. Burroughs It's going to be an interesting day.
I appreciate Gen Powell's quote regarding hard work. He was a young man who started with virtually nothing except talent and a great work ethic and see what he was able to accomplish. Looking at him as a teenager it would have been impossible to predict he would have made it to the top in the military; he is the only Jamaican American to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Hard work is what it takes whether you are trying to be the best in your work environment or like me, recover from surgery. I find if I go at it with everything I can give it, I can go a little further each day. Too many people give up before they ever see the results. Where will some hard work (we used to call it elbow grease) make a difference in something important to you? Remember that work doesn't have to be physical; sometimes the mental work is even more challenging.

Great share Charlie Brown. We have a couple of inches of the white stuff here as well but it's melting away. One of the rewards I find in working is when you share your passion with like minded people is how they are willing to set aside time to help out. None of us are islands, we can accomplish so much more as a team.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - You're so right on your example with Colin Powell Charlie, it does take hard work and there are times that you'll experience some of the hardest setbacks as you go down that road, but those are lessons learned and there is nothing like e3xperience gained (good, bad, or ugly) along the way. That is how you grow and you have to have that "I won't give up attitude no matter what!" Believe me I know oh so well. You and Tom have a great day there in snowy Northern Virginia Charlie!
