Good morning COL Mikel J. Burroughs from sunny Northern Virginia. It's two for Tuesday so the second quote is
"Necessity is the mother of taking chances" ~Mark Twain
If you never take a chance, things will never change. I remember when I wanted to join the Air Force. No women in my family had ever served, no one believed I could be successful at it. I looked at what my life would be with all the conventional choices and I decided I had to take the chance and go for it. I am so grateful I went against everyone's advice and did what I thought would be the right thing for me.
What is it that you are considering doing? What choice or chance can you take that might make all the difference for you?

Lt Col Charlie Brown - Great quote on the two for Tuesday quote Charlie! Thanks - hey you took a big chance getting both hips replaced very close together, but the end result will be better mobility in the end and less pain for you. Those are the types of chances we all take in the game of life and most of them aren't that big when it really comnes down to it. You and Tom have a great Tuesday afternoon and evening Charlie!

I pray that have the courage to step out in faith in the Christ whenever and wherever the LORD prompts you to, my friend and sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.
Heavenly Father, YOUR word teaches us that YOUR sheep hear YOUR voice. We know the enemy tries to deceive even the very elect. I pray that each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters is so familiar with YOUR word and YOUR voice that we will never be deceived by the enemy – no matter who he speaks through.
I pray LORD that YOU guide and direct each facing difficult decisions on healthcare, finances, employment, education, children, business, military and civil service and major purchases. I pray that each of us will hear YOU and follow YOUR guidance as quickly as we can.
I specifically life up each one facing serious health issues in those they love and pray that YOU guide the mind and hands of each person involved in treatment and aftercare. Demonstrate YOUR glory in our lives s many are facing seemingly impossible to resolve circumstances.

By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

"Taking chances" is the prerogative of youth. I wouldn't do it today because at 76 I don't have the time or energy to recover from my mistakes. That is why I encourage my younger acquaintances to live life in reverse. Don't put off until retirement all the fun and adventures that you dream of. Pursue them while you can. Retirement is a time for memories and reflection. Sadly, most haven't lived life as I have and I wonder at others my age who plan to do the things that I did in my youth at a time when they could kill themselves in the attempt.

Cpt. Jack truer words have ner been spoken. We have traveled and have seen things only monkeys, donkeys and turkeys have seen, because we had the KEYS! We have friends that we traveled with and sadly some are gone and others have debilitating illnesses or injuries that prevent them from doing the things we already did. I say go on vacation as long as you can borrow the money to do it. Nothing is off the table. Use your equity in your home, cash in life insurance policies and spend it all. When it comes time to check out the house will cover your debts and you can get a room in the Gilded Cage Retirement home and live off the county or Federal Gov't?

I'll still be taking chances at 76 and riding my Harley to support veterans Jack! That is me and you do take chances all the time with the work that you do with veterans there in the California area. You took a chance when you went to the school a while back and were pleasantly surprised. I understadn your thought and definition on taking chances, but it doesn't have to be that extreme. That's all I'm saying brother! You have a great Tuesday afternoon - oh yea, having a great day or afternoon is taking a chance, because it may not work out in your favor today or the next - take a chance and make it a great day CPT Jack Durish My philosophy from a 61 year old - LOL!

PO3 Bob McCord - I agree wholeheartedly. I join the Army at 17 right out of high school. After all that I did, saw, learned, I now coast downhill in this life. But I don't jet life pass me by.I continue to work and that is keeping me very young at heart and physically fit. At 65 my mind is sharp and I stay active everyday. And I give all of the glory to God for this.
