Good Sunday morning, my friend COL Mikel J. Burroughs I hope you are doing well.
"Community Services" day. While there is a formal definition of community service [work performed by a convicted defendant], there is no commonly accepted definition of community services.
Community services can refer to a range of potentially helpful activities from voluntary unpaid services to professional serves.

To be honest, IMHO it would have been more meaningful to post a more specific focus such as "Serve Your Community" day. I spent far too much time researching "community services" all for naught. Lesson learned on my part. :-(

Quotes that resonate with me:
1. Martin Luther King, Jr. 'Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.'
2. Ronald Reagan 'We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone.'
3. Anne Frank 'No one has ever become poor by giving.'
4. Robert Ingersol 'We rise by lifting others'

1. Like many I spent much of my life in the service of my nation in uniform [1974-2008]
2. From 1988 through 2016 I was heavily involved in the local church serving as an usher [1988-2016] and teacher of young children [1990-2002].
3. I served as volunteer at election time from 1995 through this year including being a poll watcher at times.
4. My primary service to the community over the past decade has been prayer and intercessory prayer

LORD do what it takes in my life and in the lives of each person on RallyPoint to be mindful of others and treat people the way we would like to be treated. Enable those who craft posts to post meaningful discussions including humorous ones which uplift more than tearing down. In the Power and authority of YOUR Name. The Name above all Names Jesus the Christ.

A. Community service is a legal term for a sentencing option for a convicted defendant to perform a number of hours of unpaid work for the benefit of the public
1. Definition of community service: work that is done without pay to help people in a community [Merriam Webster]
2. Community Service. A sentencing option for persons convicted of crimes in which the court orders the defendant to perform a number of hours of unpaid work for the benefit of the public. A person convicted of a criminal offense may be required to complete a sentence of community service directly or as an express condition of Probation.

B. As military service members and military service veterans, most of us are familiar with respective Military Branch's "Community Services" which are significantly different in focus among the military services :-)
As in many areas of the military, terminology has a different meaning among the service [Secure the building is a great example in humorous fashion"
1. Army Community Services provides a full range of personnel, financial services to service members, dependents and retirees.
2. Navy Community Service Program goal is to promote volunteerism and community service between Navy personnel and local communities.
3. Air Force Community Center AKA Community Services Flight
is the “fun hub" on the installation and features multi-use facilities where you can enjoy a wide variety of games, programs, and classes to learn, play, relax, and network.

Renew a steadfast spirit within me and every other person who reads this. Enable us to cling fast to the Truth which sets us free of LORD. I pray that we each will be outwardly focused. I pray that YOU cleanse our heart/soul to be able to sincerely love those we interact with and recognize we are all created in YOUR image.
LORD YOU instill a desire in young people to change what they believe is wrong in each generation. I pray that the young and the young in spirit will focus their desire to improve by helping others in ways that are meaningful to the ones being helped.
I lift up this nation to YOU of God. I pray for an outpouring of love at the national level. I pray that leaders and elected officials will come together to resolve the most important issues facing us. I pray that honesty will dramatically increase in news reporters.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Good morning my RP Family. Have y’all ever wondered what God has to say to us about service to our communities. This was a fun exploration for me today. I found an article that I pray y’all will receive a blessing from. Have blessed day and always.

What Does the Bible Say About Service?

What Does the Bible Say About Service?
Many people are curious about what the Bible has to say about service. God expects those who love Him to provide service to others. By providing service to others, we become God's hands reaching out to others. God has a special place in His heart for the most vulnerable members of society and charges his followers with providing service to them.

Function
The purpose of service is so God can reach others through our hands. In II Cor. 9:12-13, the Bible says that the service we provide not only meets needs but expresses thanks to God and leads others to praise God. The Bible also says that service builds up the "body of Christ." (See Eph. 4:12.) In I Cor. 12, the Bible explains that there are different kinds of service (v. 4) and then identifies many ways to provide service to others.

Significance
The Bible emphasizes the importance of providing service to others. When asked how to inherit eternal life, Jesus indicated that the two key points were loving God and loving your neighbor as yourself. (See Luke 10:27.) The parable of "The Good Samaritan" is a good example of how the person who loves his neighbor is the one who provides service to him (see Luke 10:25-37). Everyone is your neighbor and you love your neighbor by providing him service when he is in need.

Considerations
According to the Bible, Jesus spent most of his ministry providing service to others. He performed numerous miracles, such as healing the blind, which met physical needs, but he also provided service in meeting emotional needs. Jesus' interaction with the woman at the well is a wonderful example of this (see John 4:1-26). The Bible instructs us to follow Jesus' example (see I Cor. 1:11).

Misconceptions
Some people mistakenly believe that the Bible does not require those who follow God to provide service to others. Their reasoning is that they are "saved" by grace alone, so they are therefore under no obligation to provide service for others. While it is true that people are "saved" by grace alone (Ephesians 2:8), the Bible is clear that "faith without deeds is dead." See Jam. 2:26, where the Bible says that God expects his followers to provide service to others.

Warning
The Bible contains roughly 30 references to God's concern for the widow and the orphan (or fatherless) as well as multiple references to His concern for the alien (see Zechariah 7:10). Widows, orphans, and aliens were the most vulnerable members of society and God expects His people to provide them with service (see Deuteronomy 24:19 for an example). God will pass judgment on those who fail to provide service for the most vulnerable members of society, as shown in Mal. 3:5.
