Good Thursday morning Col Burroughs. An awesome topic at a time when the media is doing everything it can to fan the flames of discord here in our country. It isn't necessary to react to it all; in fact it is better for your health to walk way from much of it. Yelling at the television news is non productive other than raising your blood pressure. It solves nothing at all. Even here on RP there are things which do not require a response; just move on.
When we work with kids we teach them about the "pause button" You push it and it gives you time to breath, think and decide before reacting. Maybe we all need one of those.

But sometimes the child comes out and all the maturity went out the window.
To see it as a child gives the recipient another view.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - Bella and I walked away from the national and local media about 8 years ago and it has been very good for our health, our attitude, and soul. We are refreshed and vibrant with the national media in our minds. Thanks for your perspective and the additional quotes Charlie...
“Today’s message of reaction, react, or over/under-reacting can take on many different meanings for many different individuals. There are some great quotes today about not letting your reaction take over the situation, but instead thinking things through systematically before you react. Easier said than done for many. So, may your reaction to all situations give you a moment for pause (seconds if your life is in danger) and longer if time permits. May your reactions be made with a positive attitude; may you always keep your reactions in line with a positive mind, body, and soul; and keep your family safe, secure, happy, and healthy. Let’s all try to avoid the “Oh My Gosh” (OMG) reaction until we’ve processed the situation based on time.” The key — don’t over-react and don’t under-react.” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

MSG Felipe De Leon Brown
as a retired teacher, I definitely agree with the"counting ten". I had to do so many times as I smiled and often would exhaust all of the languages I had learned while my students watched me calm down. They hated it because they knew that censure would follow.
