Good Saturday morning Burroughs' Posse Leader from a beautiful. Sunny morning in the Greater Boston Area... It is a one day reprieve though as rain is forecast for Sunday... I'm Enjoying today Mike! Headed up to my office, so more in a few minutes...
“Playing it Safe Day!” Why Not?
MY QUOTE:
"The message is clear, that there are so many people who play it safe in life...and most times playing it safe yields failure and rejection. But taking a calculated risk may yield the positive result you gave up." - Kerry F. Harkins November 14, 2020
1) "So now, I exhort you with this truth: Don't spend all your life playing it safe! Safety is very comfortable, but it may be keeping you from God's perfect plan for your life." - Joyce Meyer
2) "Playing it safe is the riskiest choice we can ever make." - Sarah Ban Breathnach
3) "If you aren't making any mistakes, it's a sure sign you're playing it too safe." - John C. Maxwell
4) "Playing it safe and taking no risks is a shortcut to poverty." - Jordan Belfort
5) "Playing it safe is the most popular way to fail." - Elliot Smith
6) "Why have you not broken from the pack? You're playing it safe. Safe ain't gonna get you sh*t in this world." - Stone Cold Steve Austin
7) "Do not be afraid to try something new. The cost of playing it safe all the time could far exceed the cost of daring to change." - Author: Linda El Awar
Lastly,
“Taking calculated risks is what a leader does every day. There was never a moment that I didn’t take risks to achieve mission results and organizational goals throughout my career, but never at the expense of the safety for the men and women under my command!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

GreatcQuotes regarding taking risks Sgt (Join to see)! Sunny and chilly here in NC today; however, more rain and colder temperatures in the forecast for tomorrow.
I have been known to take risks and dare to be different, sometimes to my detriment...
I have attempted to learn from my mistakes. Have a great Saturday!

I hope that at times you put thought into risky ventures such as education, employment, marriage and investment prior to those embarking on those ventures. I expect that at times your mettle was tested in risky situations that suddenly occurred. No doubt you proved your courage of conviction many times. ‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 1Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.’ [John 15;12-13 ESV] my brother-in-Christ Sgt (Join to see).
I pray for wisdom for the leaders of the local churches as they deal with changing rules from local and state government. Give them eyes to see and ears to hear and courage of conviction as they guide their congregation members and seekers. I pray that YOU bless them with humility and a meek spirit as they raise issues to local officials on behalf of others. 'And when evening had come, since it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the council, who was also himself looking for the kingdom of God, took courage and went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. [Mark 15:42-43 ESV]
It is wise to remember that God cares for YOU and that nothing good, bad, or neutral happens to you against HIS specific will for you. 'For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.' [Jeremiah 29:11-12 ESV]
I lift the deployed service members, police force and federal agents, EMT personnel, crisis counselors, and medical triage personnel as well others who risk their lives and health to protect citizens and the most vulnerable to YOU dear LORD. I pray that YOU protect these individuals and their family members and allow none to die prior to their eternal salvation.
As far as the threat of pandemic which seems to preoccupy many. It is wise to take prudent precautions but never to become neurotic or paranoid since there is no such thing as chance for an adopted child of God. The LORD admonishes us ‘You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.’ Psalm 91:4-6 ESV]
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Saturday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Sunday morning.

I know that very well Morris, we spent a lot of Time in the Michelin plantation areas, the Black Virgin Mountains as well as in those triple canopy jungles. I was wounded twice in the Nam as an infantryman, on April 66 and again in Sept 66. I'm talking about real life experiences, running battles, jungle warfare, and seeing my brothers wounded and killed. Some missions lasted for weeks and the resupplies sometimes were were slow in coming. I do love those chopper pilots who pulled me out three times, once in the middle of the night with Malaria in a jungle extraction which I did not remember. They put their lives in great danger in the middle of the night to save one soldier! I woke up in the Field Hospital 3 days later. We used to blow up tunnel complexes to come back months later and see them re-dug again. they were like big ants digging up tunnels in places you couldn't even imagine. There were a lot of things different about the Nam war!!

Good morning Col Burroughs. This is a conversation I have often with clients. So many of them come for what I call the "fortune telling" question. What should I do? As if somehow I could alleviate the risk of a decision. So mostly I give them permission to leave their safety zone. What's the worst that could happen? Usually, it is a matter of bruised ego. Would you not take a risk that could lead to a new friendship, relationship, job, interest just because you were afraid to fail? To take a risk? To say you tried? Inspirational leaders are not those who make only safe decisions.

Playing it safe as far as I'm concern is a myth, being cautious is the reality when in combat. Jack, you hit it tight on the money, the difference, you was in the air while we were on the ground in triple canopy jungles, always walking into the unknown!

1LT Voyle Smith Never flew it as a combat crew member, I was staff so always had an instructor to keep me honest. I was actually in the aircraft in the picture but as an extra crewmember. I've posted the story before but essentially the mission was set up to get video of the aircraft flying TFR through the mountains in the background. Several passes through the mountains were scheduled and in the process the shoot director let us know we wouldn't believe what was happening. He was able to coordinate an extension of our mission and and arrange several more passes while moving cameras into position to get that shot. I believe that somewhere there is also video, but I've never seen it.

It’s a great shot and at least you were on board when it was taken. The only low-level flights I made were in a Huey flying nap of the earth at 120 kias.
