Too many of us are about recognition. If we feel that what we are doing is not acknowledged or recognized by others we stop. Find the internal motivation to do your best in any situation whether or not people commend you or say thank you. Put your efforts on your gratitude list or give them to the Almighty. God does his best for us (just look around you) but how often do we acknowledge that? What can you give your best effort to today even if your efforts go unremarked?

Had to laugh at a memory regarding this. While working at Energizer factory a few years ago (Omigosh - 10???? Already??? LOL) I was given an assignment to "5S clean" a machine. That means make a 25 yr old thing look new. I got 'er done :-) I showed my supervisor and he didn't respond the way I thought he should. No one else was around, so I could poke at him a little. I said "come on, Mark - 3 little words - not so hard to say :-) "Good job Jeannie". Try it. It won't hurt". He finally did LOL
I got recognition in my office while AD - ended up giving classes to unwilling co-workers to try to bring them up to par. I guess I'm a little OCD on assigned projects - no type-overs, line-outs, etc and my direct superiors showed appreciation. But I have to say, even if they hadn't, I'd STILL have done my work the same way. It's a matter of personal pride. I was one of the very best at my job and I knew it, it didn't matter if no one else seemed to notice. I knew and it mattered to me.
