Interesting and challenging topic this morning COL Mikel J. Burroughs We use the word "virtue" a lot but what does it mean? The definition is "behavior showing high moral standards" We often use the word to describe individual behaviors or beliefs that we see as good (patience, courage, honesty, respect, self discipline) but it really is about our overall being. How many of us work on that regularly? Or appreciate that moral courage is both rarer and more difficult than physical courage? Like any other behavior or emotional task, it takes regular exercise and conscious effort. What are you doing to exercise your "virtue muscle"?

Have a joyful night, my friend and sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.
Heavenly Father, I thank YOU for YOUR perfect love which transforms each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters as YOU sanctify each one. YOU accept each of YOUR adopted children as we are. It is YOUR grace, love and compassion blended with absolute justice which YOU justify each immediately at salvation. We have no part in salvation since YOU regenerate our individual heart of stone into a heart of flesh so that we are able to believe. Salvation is the greatest gift of all.
LORD, I pray that YOU will bless each and every one who reads this prayer. Help each one of us and those we love to offer up all of our sadness, fear, embarrassment, hatred, and grief to YOU. Take our burdens completely. Help us to accept the perfect burden YOU have designed fro each of us. YOUR burdens are lighter than feathers.
Enable and empower us to be childlike and to recognize virtue and to emulate virtue gracefully. Help us to be compassionate and I pray that YOU will help us see people as YOU do. Let YOUR love shine through each of us unhindered to any and all who need YOU touch this season.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

"We value virtue but do not discuss it. The honest bookkeeper, the faithful wife, the earnest scholar get little of our attention compared to the embezzler, the tramp, the cheat." ― John Steinbeck

You could make the same analogy with heroes. Who do kids emulate- sport stars that barely made it through high school, movie stars, and musicians. We used to think our parents, first responders, and older siblings were heroes. The dumbing/numbing down of society maybe. Many too blame- but we start in school. Kids that can play sports get the attention, popularity, and the lion-share of scholarships. Value placed makes a big impression. Good thought for this Saturday Col.

Maj Robert Thornton - my parents were my heroes and still are- my older brother was a god. I had my sport star heroes but I knew they ended on the field- not in my life. I loved Mantle, but have never been an alcoholic.
