I have no doubt that you have a rock-solid foundation in faith in Christ, a foundation in tempered experience, and you are gracious to share what you have learned with trustworthy individuals. I expect you are able to solve challenging problems and you habitually demonstrate logical processes and rational thinking to approach problems. Hopefully you and I will continue to delegate authority to those who depend upon our leadership, advice and teaching. ‘May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.’ Romans 15:5-7 ESV my brother-in-Christ Maj Robert Thornton

I pray that YOU bless each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads this prayer or listens to it with sufficient compassion, ability to encourage, and hope for the future. The times may seem dark and yet the light shines brightest in the dark. Hopefully, you and I are wise enough to count the cost in the planning stage and consider second and third order effects of potential decisions and actions. No doubt you understand the value of planning for the future, openly discussing decisions which affect the future for loved ones and demonstrate your logical approach to decision making in the presence of those you lead especially children. YOU meet our daily needs and fulfill desires in this lifetime. 'Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” [Hebrews 3:12-15 ESV]

Fools rush headlong into danger seemingly oblivious to the risks, while the prudent avoids unnecessary risks. ‘'The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.’ [Proverbs 22:3 ESV]. The wise take time and put sufficient effort to evaluate, assess and count the cost before embarking on an enterprise or taking a long journey. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ [Luke 14:27-30 ESV]
The LORD God is continually aware of the state of our heart/soul. HE knows exactly each aspect of our life and how and when it will end. HE allows us latitude and fulfills each desire of our heart/soul after removing the dross. 'Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring.' [James 4:13-14 ESV]

I pray for discernment, alertness, and communication capability for each deployed service member. I pray that the deployed service members communicate with their spouses and especially children as safely as they can without compromising anything. 'He will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers.' [Malachi 4:6 ESV]
I pray for the dependents of each deployed service member. I pray for peace for all and secure and safe sleep for each. Give each dependent the ability to rest and sleep peacefully – free from worry. If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. [Proverbs 3:24 ESV]

I pray that you and your family members sleep well Friday night and each will awake refreshed and healthy on Saturday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Thank you my friend and sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown for posting our friend, former RallyPoint member emeritus, and brother-in-Christ Colonel Mikel Burroughs VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day for Friday, January 6, 2022. It seems that you and our brother-in-Christ Sgt (Join to see) are in the relay race handing off the baton to keep the flow of Col Mikel's motivational posts on RallyPoint.

Topic: Back to Basics Day!
1. Learning the basics is a critical first step. Oftentimes we need to relearn a lesson to have it stick.
a. Learning through instruction and practice is a principle of military learning.
2. I have tried to mentor those I lead. I have encouraged logic, rational thinking and inquisitiveness in each of them.
3. As a mentor, I have made positive differences in the lives of most of the soldiers I served with and led and those I advised as a consultant. As a born-again Christian, by God's grace, HE has worked through me to improve the lives of many of my brothers and sisters in Christ, my extended family members; and the lives and well-being of my darling wife and our adults sons.
4. Getting back to basics is a frequent piece of advice. The Word of God produces the written Word which we call the Bible.
a. The Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed, together constitute a fairly comprehensive summary of traditional Christian doctrine, expressing the fundamental beliefs of a wide range of Christian churches.
b. Heretics attempted to influence doctrinal thought and the process of countering the heresy helped to ensure the the Bible is limited to the books and letters inspired directly by God.
c. Basic Christian Beliefs
Love God with all your heart, soul and mind.
Love your neighbor as yourself.
Christians also seek to follow the ten commandments God gave Moses to give the Israelites:
Worship no other God but me. Do not make images to worship.
Do not misuse the name of God.
Observe the Sabbath Day (Sunday, for Christians).
Keep it Holy.
Honor and respect your father and mother.
Do not murder.
Do not commit adultery.
Do not steal.
Do not accuse anyone falsely.
Do not tell lies about other people.
Do not envy other's possessions.
Quotes
1. John MacArthur 'You are the only Bible some unbelievers will ever read.'
2. Ronald Reagan 'Within the covers of the Bible are the answers for all the problems men face.'
3. 1. Thomas Henry Huxley 'Logical consequences are the scarecrows of fools and the beacons of wise men.'

Scriptures:
a. Hebrews 6:1-3 ESV 'Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, and of instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits.'
b. Luke 6:47-48 ESV ‘Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.
c. Isaiah 54:11-12, 14 ESV “O afflicted one, storm-tossed and not comforted, behold, I will set your stones in antimony, and lay your foundations with sapphires. I will make your pinnacles of agate, your gates of carbuncles, and all your wall of precious stones. All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children. In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you.'
d. Psalm 18:2-14 ESV ‘The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of destruction assailed me; the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears. Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked, because he was angry. Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him. He bowed the heavens and came down; thick darkness was under his feet. He rode on a cherub and flew; he came swiftly on the wings of the wind. He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him, thick clouds dark with water. Out of the brightness before him hailstones and coals of fire broke through his clouds. The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice, hailstones and coals of fire. And he sent out his arrows and scattered them; he flashed forth lightnings and routed them.’
e. Galatians 5:22-24 ESV 'But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law
f. Hebrews 4:12 ‘For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.’

Good morning Col Burroughs and all of my brothers and sisters here on RP. As Christians, we often get so full of ourselves that we forget what it means to be and live as Christian brothers and sisters. I believe that we should remember to get back to the basics of what it means to be a follower of Christ, and we can do that by re-reading the Holy Bible daily. See the below link for ‘Back to the Bible for the basics.’ Have a blessed day today and always.

Back to the Bible for the Basics
on October 1, 2020Featured in Answers Magazine
AUDIO VERSION

These new devotionals are designed for one lesson per week for family or private devotions.
In the beginning, Satan asked the first woman, Eve, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’” (Genesis 3:1)? Throughout the history of humankind, he’s planted doubt with the same insidious question—“Did God actually say . . . ?” Satan is the expert at attacking God’s authority by questioning his Word (2 Corinthians 11:3).

Without the foundation of the Bible, a society descends into chaos—exactly as we’re seeing around us today. Good is being called evil and evil good (Isaiah 5:20) as people do what is right in their own eyes. Moral relativism abounds, leading to sexual perversion, violence, social unrest, broken families, and a disregard for human life.
Sadly, churches are not immune to this confusion. The authority of God’s Word is being challenged even from pulpits and by those claiming to be believers in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must guard against the ideas of people who twist Scripture or use it out of context for their own purposes. When we hear information from family, friends, media, politicians, and church leaders, we should use Scripture as the final filter to sift out false doctrine.
Today more than ever, Christians need to relentlessly and boldly defend the authority of God’s inspired Word (1 Peter 3:15). Apologetics is the study and practice of giving answers for the truth of the Christian faith. But to practiceapologetics and defend Scripture, we must know what Scripture says. Only when we know what we believe can we convince others that God’s Word is trustworthy.
With God’s Word, his Spirit, and the gospel, we have everything we need to lead a godly life in this fallen world (John 14:23–26; 2 Peter 1:3). When we study Scripture, we will know how our Creator expects us to live and how we can best please him.
Weekly Reading
In these devotionals, consider the authority of God’s Word in fundamental aspects of life. Read the Scripture references to understand God’s thoughts on the topics. Discuss what you’ve learned and how you can apply the truths to stand strong on the authority of Scripture in this confused world.
Week 1—The Triune God
Matthew 28:19; John 10:30, 14:9–11, 15–17, 16:7–15; Romans 8:26–27; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Titus 3:5–6
God is triune (three in one)—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. How do these Scripture passages describe the work of each? How has the triune nature of God influenced your life? Why is it important that God is triune?
Week 2—Scripture
Joshua 1:8; Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:17–19; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15–17
God’s Word is the authority on itself. What promises does God make about his Word? Do those promises make you feel more sure about defending Scripture? If even one part of God’s Word is false, what does that mean for the rest of it?
Week 3—Sin
John 3:16; Romans 3:23, 6:23; Ephesians 2:8–10; 1 John 1:8–10
Sin is anything that violates God’s commands, separating us from him. How did Jesus’ death provide a way for us to have fellowship with God? What is God’s promise regarding our sin after we are saved?
Week 4—Salvation
John 5:24; Acts 4:12; Romans 10:9–10; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 2:8–10
False religions propose many paths to eternal life. But what does God’s Word say is the only way to salvation? What is not a factor in our salvation? What are the repercussions of not receiving Christ as our Savior?
Week 5—Creation
Genesis 1–2; Exodus 20:11; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 11:3
Evolutionists believe that our intricate world sprang into existence from nothing. But how does the Genesis creation account affect our lives in a different way from evolution? How does belief in evolution undermine the authority of God’s Word? What did Jesus reveal about creation?
Week 6—Value of Life
Genesis 1:26–27, 9:6; Deuteronomy 5:17; Psalm 139:13–16
When God created humans in his image, he endowed them with unique value. How does the world devalue life? Who are some of the people groups most affected by this attack on life? How do some of our everyday thoughts and actions reveal our perception of life’s value?
Week 7—Marriage
Genesis 1:27–28, 2:18–25; Matthew 19:4–6; Ephesians 5:22–33
When God created Adam and Eve, he established the model for marriage. What did that look like? How does the world corrupt God’s design for marriage?
Week 8—Family
Exodus 20:12; Matthew 19:19; Ephesians 5:22–33, 6:1–4; 1 Peter 3:1–7
Scripture speaks about the role of each family member. How do these Scripture passages challenge you in your role?
Week 9—Work
Genesis 2:3, 15; Proverbs 12:24, 13:4; Galatians 6:4–5; Colossians 3:23; 1 Timothy 5:8
God put Adam and Eve to work tending the garden of Eden. How was work affected after the fall? How does work benefit us and others?
Week 10—Church
1 Corinthians 12:12–26; Ephesians 2:19–22; Colossians 3:15–16; Hebrews 10:24–25; James 5:14–16
How does Scripture define church? In what ways does the church show Christ’s love to the world? What are some of the church’s functions? What are some things we need to be cautious of in the church?
Week 11—Government
Psalm 22:28; Proverbs 21:1; Mark 12:13–17; Romans 13:1–7; 1 Timothy 2:1–2; 1 Peter 2:13–17
Government officials carry out God’s plans. How should this truth affect the way you pray for your officials? Can you think of examples in Scripture when godly and ungodly rulers carried out God’s plan?
Week 12—Speaking Truth
Proverbs 12:17; Zechariah 8:16; Ephesians 4:15, 25; 2 Timothy 2:15
The world often mistakes acceptance and inclusion for love. But what does Scripture say about speaking truth? How can you share truth with someone who might be living contrary to Scripture? Who are some Bible characters who proclaimed truth in the face of adversity?
Week 13—Finances
Proverbs 3:9, 10:4, 22:7; Ecclesiastes 5:10; Matthew 6:21; Acts 20:35; Romans 13:8; 1 Timothy 6:10; Hebrews 13:5
Scripture offers guidance for wisely handling our resources. How do these passages discuss money? How can we best honor the Lord with our finances?
